5 Signs You Are Stuck and Don’t Even Know It

Have you ever felt stuck? Stuck at a bad job, stuck in a bad relationship, stuck in worry about your appearance or lack of physical health, stuck in low confidence, stuck with interpersonal relationships?

I think it’s safe to say that most of us feel stuck at some point in life. We get caught up in a cycle of everyday life and simply continue doing the things we have always done. We get caught up in the lie that “that’s just the way I am” or “that’s just the story of my life”. We hang around the same people, we talk about the same topics, and we wait for happiness to come to us. We wait to see “what life brings us” and never really understand how to break free or that we even have the ability to do so.

1. You feel like life is the same day over and over
Have you ever felt like you wake up, get ready, go to work, come home, do home stuff, go to sleep, and then repeat it the next day? We often get stuck in a pattern of routine and it becomes difficult to escape the treadmill effect that gets us nowhere fast. Getting stuck in tasks and living life reacting to the urgent stuff that happens leads to a lack of fun and fulfillment.

Find what makes you feel passionate and do it every day. This can help develop a positive attitude and break you from the daily routine. Developing your passion will also lead to an increased sense of what your future might hold.

2. You have no idea what to do next or what’s to come for your future
This feeling either comes from a lack of focus, or fear. Fear of the future creates a loss of trust for the big picture of life and creates a sense of hopelessness. Fear is merely the thought of something happening that may or may not be true.

Visualize different scenarios for how your life can go. See yourself where you want to be and create vision inside your mind for where you can go and what it will feel like when you get there. Put yourself in the driver’s seat and recognize that you control where you end up.

3. You are making excuses to avoid change
Coming up with excuses keeps us exactly where we are…and it’s so easy to do. You can have excuses or you can have results, but you can’t have both. Avoiding change means that you have stopped growing and when you stop growing, you start dying.

Change is uncomfortable, and that’s why most people will avoid it – we sometimes get addicted to comfort and being comfortable is the enemy of being great. Challenge yourself to get uncomfortable and start developing habits instead of excuses. A person who wants to avoid something will always have a way to make an excuse while a person who wants to accomplish something will always find a way to do it.

4. You feel unfocused
If your mind is racing from the moment you wake up, there may be too many unproductive thoughts that serve no benefit. It may also be a sign that you are living life dealing with urgent matters, and in a reactionary state of mind. This can be the effect of a lack of focus for what is important. Start a daily regimen of identifying what is truly important and handle the things that are important before they become urgent.

Get out of your usual physical or mental state and create a shock to your system by breaking up your usual physical or mental space. Go for a run, take a cold shower, skip out on coffee, do anything to shock your system to break free from your usual state of being.

5. You feel like you can be a better version of yourself
Is something just not sitting right with you? Do you feel like you were put here for something so much greater? When we get stuck in a pattern that does not serve our highest calling, we limit ourselves from the ability to truly be great. Sometimes we tend to overlook intuition as something that’s “out there” or not tangible, but it can be our true ultimate guide speaking directly to us. Listen to that voice.

Reach out to people you trust and love. Our society over-qualifies the idea of independence and the thought that successful people struggle, sweat, bleed, and cry alone is not at all true. Express your desires and allow people to help you realize them or hold you accountable for moving towards them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. These are just some simple tips to help get you out of a stuck pattern and begin changing things up in life. Hopefully you can find some value in this post.
